Dr. David Woodsfellow's Couples Therapy Consultation Groups

Interested in couples therapy? Finding it challenging? These groups are for you.

Here's what you’ll learn:

- Unique couples-oriented skills.

- Specific couples interventions.

- How to quickly consider many different theories and methods.

- Improve your ability to choose which to do when and with whom.

- How to shift when something’s not working.

These consultation groups are for licensed therapists who want to improve their couples therapy skills and understanding. In each meeting, we discuss two cases from our practices. You are welcome to present cases of yours if you'd like, but you do not have to present a case. You are also welcome to ask general clinical questions about types of situations or types of clients.

With each case, we do the following:

- Address the presenting therapist's questions regarding their case.

- Discuss how to respond at each point in therapy.

- Understand that couples therapy is difficult, and we commiserate with those difficulties.

- Formulate principles about how to respond to specific moments.

- Discuss the unique qualities of that couple.

- Review the principles and interventions to use with similar couples in everyone's practice.

When you present a case of yours, you can use any format you like. Some therapists make detailed case presentations. Others briefly describe their couple and pose the question that they are facing.

These consultation groups are for counselors, psychologists, marriage and family therapists, social workers, and pastoral counselors. The online meetings are on Zoom.

The cost is $85 per meeting. Each participant commits to attending, and paying for, the entire series of six to ten meetings. We allow one free miss per series.
