  • Assess the mechanisms of a functional analysis, including triggers, obsessions, compulsions, and feared outcomes.
  • Compare obsessional subtypes and symptom domains relevant to OCD.
  • Critique cognitive belief domains that maintain OCD symptoms.
  • Demonstrate how to formulate a functional analysis during a clinical interview.
  • Apply exposure-based interventions informed by the functional analysis.
  • Evaluate distinctions between obsessions and rumination.
  • Design ERP strategies using situational, imaginal, and interoceptive exposure.
  • Utilize case examples to practice assessing and treating OCD in session.

Workshop Description:

Many clinicians get lost in the content of their client’s OCD — but that’s exactly what OCD wants! In this dynamic and practical workshop, attendees will learn to shift their focus from symptom content to the underlying structure of OCD through the use of functional analysis.

This workshop will break down the essential skills of assessing and treating OCD using case examples and applied learning. Through targeted ERP strategies rooted in functional analysis, participants will leave with tools to confidently treat a wide variety of OCD subtypes while avoiding common clinical traps.
