Workshop Description:
Feeling torn about how to show up for your gender-expansive clients while staying grounded in your ethical responsibilities? Did the new SCOTUS ruling, Skrmetti vs. U.S., make you question, “How do I keep doing this work, with everything going on?” Well, Nick Marzo, MS, LPC, LMHC, CST-S, ACS has a model to assist you.
In this workshop, Nick will review the ins and outs of ethics when it comes to working with gender expansive adolescents and adults. Through discussion, case studies, and experiential exercises, Nick will support you in developing your critical thinking skills when working with and documenting your work with gender-expansive clients in the current healthcare environment.
Please note that Nick brings a unique lens that blends lived experience as a trans person, clinical experience, and expertise as AASECT Ethics Advisory Committee Chairperson, as well as experience in utilization and quality review, in addition to experience as a paralegal. All of this will be delivered with a diversely queer outlook and the ability to think way outside the box.

Nick Marzo, MS LPC, LMHC, CST-S, ACS (he/Sir) is a Professional Counselor Supervisor, AASECT Certified Sex Therapist-Supervisor, educator, and consultant. Nick’s career has spanned 25 years in community behavioral health, administrative oversight, and private practice. He is the founding owner of Modern Path, a group psychotherapy and holistic wellness practice in Atlanta, GA. Modern Path is a place where people who live and love outside of the box are able to access therapy, sex education, and intimacy coaching in a way that minimizes the power in the room, fostering trust and vulnerability. No longer providing direct care, Nick’s focus is supervising and mentoring clinicians, serving as the AASECT Ethics Advisory Committee Chairperson, providing consultation and training, and serving his personal and professional communities. Nick’s experiences are informed at the intersection of being a middle-aged, trans masculine, genderqueer, thrice gifted, consensually non monogamous Leatherman, a single birth parent, and an all-around passionate and magical guy who has resided in East Coast metro areas his entire life.
